Community Development
The Community Development Division of the City of Benbrook is directed by Assistant City Manager, David Gattis, AICP. The Division includes planning and zoning, permits and inspections, economic development, floodplain administration, and engineering services. The director plays a primary role in the planning and development of public improvements, the acquisition of Federal and State grants for public improvements, overseeing all phases of engineering and construction contracts, floodplain and storm water management, GIS (Geographical Information System), and coordinating development with other departments both inside and outside the City.
The director acts as the liaison to the City Manager and City Council in all areas of development as well as the publication of the Annual Capital Improvements Plan, updating and revising the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Subdivision Ordinance, and Zoning Regulations through recommendations of the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Director also works closely with the Benbrook Economic Development Corporation, Benbrook Water Authority, and the Tax Increment Finance Board.
