Dismissal Information

INSURANCE / FAIL TO DISPLAY DRIVER'S LICENSE DISMISSALS
The following offenses may be dismissed by the Judge with no charge if the defendant brings proof of a valid driver's license as required by law and/or proof of financial responsibility/insurance coverage as required by State Law. The defendant must bring the proof to the Municipal Court within the 10 consecutive days after the citation is issued. Proof submitted for the purpose of dismissal will be verified. Most of these dismissals may be processed with the Court personnel without having to go before the Judge. The Judge cannot dismiss these citations without verification.

  • Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility (No insurance)
  • Fail to Display a Valid Driver's License at time of offense.

FAIL TO REPORT ADDRESS CHANGE DISMISSALS
The offense of Fail to Report Address Change may be dismissed by the Judge if proof of correction is shown to the Judge within 10 days from the issuance date of the citation.


COMPLIANCE DISMISSALS
These dismissals have many terms and are not always a defendant's right. These dismissals are valid if the defendant appears on or before the required appearance date and meets the terms. Fees for compliance dismissals are payable immediately by cash, check, money order or credit card.

If you receive a citation for Expired Driver's License, and if you meet the following terms it is the Judge's discretion to dismiss your case:

  1. Renew your license within 10 calendar days of the date you were charged.
  2. The drivers license has not been expired for more than 60 days; Provide proof to the Court of your new renewed license.
  3. Present the license renewal noted above with $10.00 (dismissal fee) no later than the 10th consecutive day following the issuance date of your citation.

If you receive a citation for Expired Vehicle Registration, if you meet the following terms it is the Judge's discretion to dismiss your case:

  1. Renew your registration within 10 calendar days of the date you were charged.
  2. Provide a legible receipt of registration that clearly identifies the vehicle in violation and the payment of the required penalty fee to the Department of Transportation.
  3. Present the receipt noted above with $10.00 (dismissal fee) no later than the 10th consecutive day following the issuance date of your citation.

If you receive a citation for Expired Vehicle Inspection, if you meet the following terms it is the Judge's discretion to dismiss your case:

  1. The sticker has not been expired for more than 60 days,
  2. Renew your inspection sticker within 10 calendar days of the date you were charged.
  3. Present the receipt noted above with $10.00 (dismissal fee) no later than the 10th consecutive day following the issuance date of your citation.
