Benbrook CERT Team #1

The Benbrook Fire Department is proud to announce the graduation of the first Community Emergency Response Team.  Throughout twelve weeks of training they were instructed in such area's as Medical Disasters, Urban Search and Rescue, Haz-Mat Incidents, Fire Extinguishers,  Fire Prevention, National Incident Management Systems, Critical Incident Stress, Severe Weather, Extrication, Apparatus Familiarization, and Customer Service.

Benbrook CERT Team #1 Graduation The first City of Benbrook CERT Team graduated on March 25, 2009.  The CERT program was developed by Los Angeles City Fire Department in 1985.   The main goal of CERT was to train motivated citizens to meet their immediate needs until first responders could arrive on the scene, following a large scale incident.  Since its inception CERT has evolved to training citizens to safely assist themselves, their families, and their neighbors.  Providing life saving and life sustaining skills until Fire and EMS can arrive on the scene.
