Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Disposal

2010 HHW events: Spring--March 27, 2010  Fall---October 23, 2010 (tentative, check back to confirm this date)

Benbrook residents may take HHW items only (no electronic waste) anytime throughout the year to the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center (817-392-3279), 6400 Bridge Street, Fort Worth, (off Bridge Street, near I-30 & 820) to properly dispose of hazardous household waste. Through a contract with the City of Fort Worth, the City of Benbrook pays approximately $47 per household to properly dispose of these items, so please dispose of as many items at one time as possible.

The Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center hours of operation are:

Thursdays & Fridays 11:00am-7:00pm
Saturdays 9:00am-3:00pm

Acceptable materials:
acids, aerosol cans, antifreeze, all batteries, brake fluid, craft & hobby materials, degreasers, drain cleaners, fertilizer, fluorescent lights, herbicides, household chemicals, motor oil, oil filters, paints/stains, paint thinners, pest strips, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, solvents, transmission fluid, and varnishes.

 Unacceptable materials:
ammunition & explosives (can be taken to Benbrook Police Department), medical waste, radioactive material (smoke detectors), waste generated by businesses, TVs, tires, propane and butane cylinders.
