Free Paper-shredding Event
Are you looking for ways to improve your community? As part of Keep Benbrook Beautiful and Trinity River Environmental Education Society (T.R.E.E.S.), Benbrook invites you to volunteer in the 20th annual Benbrook Trinity Trash Bash. This event provides an opportunity for local volunteers to take part in a fun clean-up party!!
The Trash Bash will be on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Dutch Branch Park Athletic Complex. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Pavilion #4, behind the concession stand in the east parking lot of Dutch Branch Park (behind the YMCA), located at Winscott Road & Benbrook Boulevard (Highway 377). Cleanup starts at 9:00 a.m.
Volunteer teams will pick-up litter and debris from assigned lake and park areas - gloves and trash bags are provided. Volunteers receive free t-shirts, fun giveaway items, and are eligible for door prizes. 4 PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) members will serve a free hotdog lunch to all volunteers after the cleanup at approximately 11:00 a.m.
Again this year, a paper-shredding truck will be available in the parking lot for any Benbrook resident to bring documents for shredding. Paper shredding provides a safeguard for the protection of business/personal information. This FREE service is available during the Trash Bash event (8:30-11:30 a.m).
Trinity Trash Bash is an annual volunteer cleanup of the Trinity River and its tributaries. In 2010, 14,000 volunteers, working throughout the Upper Trinity Basin, retrieved more than 334,000 pounds of trash and recyclable material. This year, 33 events in 28 communities are expected to exceed that record.
Benbrook won the 2007 Trinity River Environmental Education Society award for the Division 1 Trash Bash Challenge. Your participation in this important environmental event is crucial to the success of Trash Bash!
