Curb Repairs - Curb shifting, moving and cracking is normal and expected. Typically, only curb sections that create safety or significant drainage problems are eligible for repair. Curbs are generally not repaired for aesthetic reasons only. To request a curb repair, click here or call 817-249-6065.
Drainage Maintenance - City drainage maintenance is limited to flood control and prevention. As such, City drainage maintenance is restricted to removing major obstructions from drainage areas.
Most drainage areas (creeks, etc) are located on private property and are owned by the adjoining home or property owner. As a result, vegetation and erosion control is the responsibility of the individual property owner. To review the adopted drainage maintenance policy, click here. To request drainage maintenance, click here or call 817-249-6065.
Drainage System Improvements - Major upgrades to a drainage system (creek, etc.) are normally intended to remove multiple homes from the 100-year flood plain, are generally funded through the issuance of debt (municipal bonds) and are performed by a private company. The City annually prioritizes drainage system construction projects. Major drainage system projects are undertaken as funding allows and are chosen by the Benbrook City Council.
Minor Street Repairs - Most asphalt street repairs involve cutting and removing the failing street section, restabilizing the street base with concrete, and capping the repair with asphalt. This process is commonly called a “street cut” and takes 2 to 3 working days to complete. The process to repair a concrete street is very similar, but the repair is made with a full depth of concrete and no asphalt is used. Concrete repairs are more time consuming and take 5 to 6 working days to complete. To request a street repair, click here or call 817-249-6065.
Mosquito Control - City-wide mosquito fogging was eliminated over 5 years ago due to environmental and other concerns. However, mosquito fogging is conducted on an as-needed, localized basis when mosquito borne disease is detected in a specific area. For more information about mosquito control, click here.
Sand Bags - In order to request sand bags during an emergency flooding situation, call 911. Otherwise, click here or call 817-249-6065 during normal business hours.
Sidewalk Repairs - Sidewalk shifting, moving and cracking is normal and expected. Typically, only sidewalk sections that create a safety hazard are eligible for repair. Sidewalks are generally not repaired for aesthetic reasons only. To request a sidewalk repair, click here or call 817-249-6065.
Street Asphalt Overlay Program – Annually, the City applies a leveling layer of asphalt to approximately 8 linear miles of existing streets to improve pavement condition and extend service life. Streets are selected based on pavement condition, street age, traffic volume and street classification (thoroughfare, collector, residential, etc.). For an individual street, the process is normally completed the same day. Notification of work is provided via door hangers several days prior to initiating work.
The maintenance program is performed in conjunction with Tarrant County.
Street Reconstruction – Major repairs requiring street reconstruction are normally funded through the issuance of debt (municipal bonds) and are performed by a private company. The City annually prioritizes street construction projects based on a number of factors including pavement condition, street age, traffic volume and street classification (thoroughfare, collector, residential, etc.). Street reconstruction projects are undertaken as funding allows and are chosen by the Benbrook City Council.
Street lights - Street lights are maintained by TXU Electric. To report a street light outage or other problem, click here or call 1-888-313-4747.
Tree Trimming – City Ordinance 474 requires property owners to trim trees and shrubs originating on their property and hanging or protruding onto public streets, sidewalks, and right-of-ways. For other tree and shrub issues including an obscured street sign, please click here or call 817-249-6065
Water and Sewer Lines - All maintenance related to water and sewer service is the responsibility of the Benbrook Water Authority. To request water and sewer maintenance, click here or call 817-249-1250.
For all other requests for service, click here or call 817-249-6065.
