GUIDELINES FOR TESTING POLICE APPLICANTS

1.                  Applicants for the position of sworn police officer will be tested for narcotic, drug, and controlled substance usage as a part of their pre-employment medical examination.

2.                  Refusal to be tested, or test results reporting a presence of narcotics, drugs, or controlled substances will be grounds for rejecting an applicant.

3.                  Applicants found to be involved in the illegal sale, manufacturing or distribution of any narcotic, drug, or controlled substance will be permanently rejected.

4.                  Applicants demonstrating addiction to any narcotic, drug, or controlled substance will be permanently rejected.

5.                  Persons who have possessed or used marijuana in the past two years or who have illegally used or abused any other narcotic, drug, or controlled substance in the past ten years are ineligible for employments as police officers.

6.                  Applicants who previously refused to test are not eligible for further consideration.

7.                  The results of drug tests on applicants for the position of sworn police officer will not be released without a signed waiver from the subject of the test.
