Benbrook Police Officer Recruitment Information
Qualifications:
AGE: Applicants must be at least 20 years of age at the time of application, and 21 upon graduation from the academy. Candidates who are 45 years of age or older may not be certified for a beginning position in a police department. [Texas Local Government Code (Municipal Civil Service) Chapter 143]
EDUCATION: Must be a high school graduate, or possess a GED with twelve (12) hours of college in order to attend a basic police officer academy.
LICENSE: Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of application. Must maintain said license throughout employment.
CITIZENSHIP: Must be a United States citizen at the time of application and comply with the Immigration and Nationality Act.
CHARACTER: Must be of high moral character. Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation conducted by the Benbrook Police Department.
PHYSICAL: Physical ability to sit and stand for long periods of time; walk, climb, or run, in pursuit of suspects; to drag and lift average body weight; to work outdoors in inclement weather and extreme temperatures. Eyesight 20/70 corrected to 20/20 with normal color vision. Applicants must successfully pass a written test, a physical agility test, a background check, a psychological examination, a polygraph examination, interview and medical examination including drug screen.
